I have been long enamored with remote work.  It does not solve every problem.  It is not magic.  It has problems also.

But…while we are in the middle of a new world where remote work has been mandatory, if at all possible.

Now, we are starting to see businesses start to think about going back to “normal”, whatever that is.

When companies say we need to get “back to work” they usually mean getting back into the office.  Even if there is remote work going on now.  This means that many upper management executives don’t trust their employees to work at home.

What is “normal”?

Tech companies have been very lucky.  Most have been able to carry on with their work like nothing ever happened.  Most tech companies have not missed a beat for getting their work done.

A survey released by Quantum Workplace, an Omaha, Nebraska-based firm that is focused employee engagement, 77% of employees said they have been more productive when working remote.  52% said they are less likely to take time off and, 23% said they were like to work longer hours when working remote!

As a big fan of remote work, this and other studies astound me.  I didn’t see such a great acceptance with so many employees so quickly.
